Clark Air Base Revisited 2007

The American flag still flies along side the Filipino flag at the American Cemetery on Clark. Death March marker at the Clark Cemetery.
Subic-Tarlac road passes over the former Mitchell Highway in the vicinity of the old Aero Club. Former commissary is now empty. It was used as a duty free store in the early 1990's.
The old post office near the BX was used as a Merchandise Control center in the early 90's.  It has now been changed back to a post office. Former Chapel 2 by the commissary is now the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament or The Church of Saint Joseph the Worker depending on which sign you read.
Shrine built on Lilly Hill by the Japanese in 1998 on  the 54th commemoration of the Kamikaze. Lilly Hill was the stronghold of the Kembu Group which defended Clark from Dec 5, 1944 until Sept 20, 1945. The power plant provided electricity for the entire Clark SEZ in the early 1990's. It now appears abandoned.
Original aircraft hangars from Clark Field built between 1917-1919 still survive.  The original runway was a east-west dirt strip located right behind these hangars.
The former Kelly Theatre. This building survived Mt. Pinatubo, but eventually everything from the seats to the roof and front walls were stolen. The old Kelly Cafeteria is now the PAF commissary.
The Former Silver Wings Recreation Center is now A PAF building with their Air Logistics' Command and also their PAF Reserve HQ. Former Base Hobby Shop is now HQ for 600th ABW.
The old base hotel is now the PAF Hospital. Former Legal Office and Finance building on the parade grounds is now the Clark Museum.
One of the few names not changed...yet.

The Parade Grounds is now Stotsenberg (misspelled) Park.  As noted previously, the correct spelling was Colonel John M.  Stotsenburg.

The jogging trail around the former parade grounds is still popular for joggers. The Philippine flag flies near the former 13th AF HQ building
The CDC (Clark Development Corp) flag flies on the parade field near the Clark Museum Former HQ building now CDC headquarters
Commemorative plaques near the top of the parade field are still maintained by the CDC
Former base gas station still in operation About $3.40 per gallon for unleaded gas.
Site of original Airmen's Club. Was replaced in about 1990 by the club pictured on the right. Former Airmen's Club. Now PAF resort.
WOW!  Would you believe the road leading up to the Former Clark Regional Medical Center? Clark Hospital
Anyone stationed at Clark spent some time in the Clark hospital. When the USAF left Clark, this was a fully functional hospital. Everything was stolen and it is now an empty shell with no walls.
Entrance to the former Clark Hospital Centennial Expo (closed)  is being converted to Expo Clark.
The former elephant cage is now part of the Expo. The Expo as seen from Lilly Hill.
